What\u2019s this?!<\/b><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a button that allows you to instantly pause your kid\u2019s device from your own. Just like you would press a button on your remote to pause a film or a TV show. Tap a button on your device and your kid\u2019s phone or tablet will just…stop. Done. No Minecraft. No Snapchat. \u2018Can I just take a quick selfie?\u2019 they\u2019ll say. <\/span><\/p>\n

Nope!<\/p>\n

Cool! But is it fiddly getting their phone up and running again?<\/b><\/p>\n

Absolutely not. Just press the Play button on your handset and the kids\u2019 devices are back in business, just as they were before. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wow! Sounds great. But what happens to the original Play\/Pause feature?<\/b><\/p>\n

We love hearing your suggestions about how to improve our <\/span>Screen Time app<\/span><\/a>. The original \u2018Play\/Pause\u2019 feature has been a huge hit with our subscribers. But some of you have suggested that a more simplified version would make the feature even better. We agree. <\/span><\/p>\n

Picture the scene: You\u2019re running late for school, you need to get everyone out of the door, but the kids\u2019 are lying flat on the sofa, heavily engrossed in their phones or tablets. As is always the case in such scenarios, their ears stop working entirely, despite your best efforts to get their attention. Rather than waste your breath, just whip out your phone, open up the <\/span>Screen Time app<\/b><\/a> and tap the \u2018Pause\u2019 button that appears by their profile pics.<\/span><\/p>\n

And away you all go. It really is as simple as that. No faffing with setting timings while in panic mode. No school detentions for being late.<\/p>\n

Maybe your in-laws are coming to stay and you need extra time to prepare. Maybe you\u2019re about to attempt a long, hot car journey with the whole family for summer vacation. Or maybe you simply need a longer-than-normal break from your kids and want to put your feet up for a change! <\/span><\/p>\n

Free Play mode allows your kids to use their device freely, without impacting any of the <\/span>Time Limits<\/b><\/a> you would normally have in place. The beauty of this new and improved Free Play mode is that when you are ready to switch it off, your normal <\/span>Screen Time<\/span><\/a> settings are resumed. So if ever your kids are treated to a screen-athon, you can quickly get a handle on their screen time<\/a> once again with a simple tap.<\/span><\/p>\n
